The growth process is conducted in large growth chambers, under controlled circumstances. During the growth process warmth and high humidity are essential. Growth takes 7 days and then harvesting can commence.

First all the unsuitable bean skins and root ends are removed. Thereafter the bean sprouts are rapidly cooled down to 5ºC to ensure shelf life and delivery of safe produce. Once cooled the bean sprouts are packaged in various amounts, and then transported – again in a cooled condition – to our customers.

Bean sprouts can be used in many manners. The most general use is in a wok, with a rice or noodle dish. Besides frying in a wok, bean sprouts can be blanched. Immerse the bean sprouts in boiling water for 30 seconds and then remove them immediately. This way they will keep their vitamins and minerals and remain nice and crunchy, which does justice to the dish being prepared.

Taughetti is a new use for bean sprouts. Taughetti means that mean sprouts are used as the main ingredient for a dish. After blanching the bean sprouts just add a pasta sauce of your choice and there you have a low-carb Italian meal! Click here for more information.

Nutritional value

Bean sprouts are of the sprout vegetable family; it is the sprout of the mung bean which abounds in vegetable protein, vitamins and minerals. Mung beans generally come from China, therefore the vegetables have an Asian twist to them and are regularly used in Asian cuisine. Besides Asian dishes these vegetables can be used in many other ways. Take a look at our recipes.

General product information

Mung beans themselves are not easily found in stores. Some people try to grow mung beans themselves. This turns out to be a difficult task when growth circumstances cannot be controlled.
